In general....

People have performance anxiety for many reasons.  It could boil down to distractions, self-esteem, insecurities, or a genuine and accurate appreciation for the task at hand.  Whatever the reason, the results are typically the same:  not as good as you would like them to be.

Some examples of performance anxieties:

  • Test anxiety (for all levels of students, adults and kids, alike)
  • Public speaking
  • Athletic performance
  • Self-assertiveness
  • Self-confidence
  • Sexual performance (see note below)

How can hypnosis help?

Just like with any other phobia or anxiety, performance issues have a root in trauma (see section on Anxiety and Phobias on the Hypnosis Specialties page).  In this case, since the main concern is usually connected to a belief about failing or not being able to perform adequately, hypnosis can help a person to address those concerns by helping the person to disassociate the trauma of failure from the act of being prepared.  As an added feature, hypnosis can provide coping skills for the person even as he/she is experiencing the event which can help to improve overall results!

A quick note about sexual performance...

There are many reasons for a person not being able to perform sexually.  Some of these reasons can be medical/biological, for sure.  Once those reasons have been ruled out by your physician, usually the only answer remaining is psychological.  Enter hypnosis!

Please note that since I am NOT a medical doctor, I will ask that you get evaluated medically for any sexual performance issues before I will work with you.  After you have worked with your physician and you have found that there is no medical reason for your performance challenges, you will find that hypnosis can be incredibly effective!

So, if you are looking for an alternative to using a "little blue option", using hypnosis is a non-chemical, highly effective choice.
